As fighting continues in Gaza, a grassroots effort called Living Room Dialogues tries to engage regular Jews and Palestinians living in the U.S. in conversations. Len Traubman started the dialogue group 16 years ago in San Mateo, Calif., where he lives. Traubman is Jewish. One of the people he eventually invited to attend was Melek Nasr-Totah. She's a Palestinian-American whose father fled Palestine in 1948.

SF Bay Area / GAZA EVENTS:

    Friday April 24th (7-9PM)
    Sunday April 26th (2-4PM)

    ****PLEASE FORWARD*****

The American Friends Service Committee & Interfaith Witness for Middle East Peace Invite you to:

A Voice of Healing and Reconciliation from Gaza

    Friday April 24th, 7-9PM
    First Congregational Church
    2345 Channing Way, Berkeley, CA

Join us for an evening with Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish for a conversation and a memorial ceremony.

Dr. Abuelaish is a man who has devoted his life to caring for the health of families and children, and reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis. Tragically, his three daughters and niece were killed in January during the latest attack on Gaza, by Israeli mortar fire while in his home in Jabalya Refugee Camp. He is now working tirelessly to promote a vision of peace, reconciliation and healing to sustain his daughter’s memories.

Citizen Hearings on the Impact of US Weapons on Civilians in Gaza

    Sunday April 26th, 2-4PM
    Department of Health
    Commission Hearings Room 300
101 Grove Street, San Francisco, CA

Citizen Hearings on the Impact of US Weapons on Civilians in Gaza will feature eye-witness testimony from residents of Gaza, weapons experts and first hand responders. Testimonies will be heard by a Panel of Listeners who will make recommendations to their sponsoring agency, institution or constituents. The event will be recorded and made available for future use, along with a curriculum guide for lobbying.

Testifiers include: Amr Shurrab who was on the phone with his father while he watched his two brothers killed before his eyes; Reem Salahi, a lawyer with National Lawyers Guild and Sandee Scott (a nurse who went with Global Exchange) among others.

Interfaith Witness for Middle East Peace is a coalition of interfaith and community organizations committed to human dignity, equality and security for all inhabitants of the Holy Land. We are deeply concerned about the use of US weapons in the recent assault on Gaza.

Please contact nkhouri@afsc.org and rabbilynn@earthlink.net with any questions, for more information, or if your organization would like to sponsor the event.
