Thirty-five years ago this month, an album called "The Jean Leccia Interpolation" was released. Later the name was changed to just "Lexia.""The Jean Leccia Interpolation" wasn't exactly catchy. Either way, you probably haven't heard of it. But for reporter Jamala Henderson, it has a lot of meaning. Her mother recorded the album, and its failure clouded Jamala's childhood for years.

Songs from The Jean Leccia Interpolation

"Carnival," from The Jean Leccia Interpolation (4:08).

"Good Morning to You," from The Jean Leccia Interpolation (1:39).

"Lovelight," from The Jean Leccia Interpolation (4:06).

"I Worship You," from The Jean Leccia Interpolation (3:42).

Wow. Yeah, this is post way after the fact, but when listening to "Mother of Us All", I decided to do another search for the Jean Leccia Interpolation (last one was MANY years ago) and came upon this wonderful story. I love Pat Henderson's voice (which blended so well with Ed Whiting's) as well as Jean's compositions. I was never a big fan of the arrangements ('though I've grown accustomed to them), but the melodies and rhythms coupled with lyrics and voices ... perfection. I bought two copies of this album when it was released. I knew I would want to listen to it for the rest of my life, and did not anticipate the CD (as well as mp3) revolution. Several years ago I ripped the vinyl into CD, then mp3 format, so I still have one virgin, still in cellophane, vinyl LP. Thank you Jamala (and especially Pat) for your inspiration.

I love this story! It's my privilege to know Ms. Henderson. I appreciate her honest and loving tribute to her family. And the music is great -- very uplifting. I'd buy a copy!

I am so sorry the result of this album caused Ms Henderson so much pain in her early life. I got this record years ago and it has always been one of the most enjoyable records in my collection.
