When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Kara Keyes and her husband were forced to evacuate. They left everything, including their pit bull Crown. While temporarily in Houston, they feared the worst for their house, their friends and their pet. When they were able to return home, they eventually discovered that Crown was not dead, but had been rescued. Pia Salk, a clinical psychologist from Santa Monica, traveled to New Orleans immediately after the storm to help stranded animals. She found an emaciated pit bull, named her Sweetie and eventually took her in. Now, two years later, Keyes and Salk are in a custody battle over the pit bull. We'll talk to both of them about their love for this dog.

I know that this was a long time ago. But the truth is that no one would have ever known that Pia S. had this dog except for the fact that she was contacting people to find a home for it because she didn't want it any more. So obviously the "bond" that she states that they had wasn't as strong as she made it out to be. After finding out WHO the owners of the dog was she decided to fight to not to return the dog to them...draw your own conclusions.
