Listeners from across the country have been telling us about the soundtrack to their weekends. Today we hear from Melanie Treco, who lives in San Diego and listens to us on KPBS. She tells us why the song "Australia" by the Shins is the first thing she listens to when she gets out of ballet class on the weekend.

Melanie, why do you connect this song to your Saturdays and Sundays?
The song has this incredible energy behind it, and the weekends for me are all about possibility. Also, I love this song for the weekend because it's just quirky. The lyrics are so weird. You can't really guess them.
What is the song about to you?
Letting go of what's expected of you and just doing what it is that makes you feel good. This person that he's singing to is trapped behind a window, and she only wants to do what's expected of her or what she's expecting of her own life. And it's like, "Hey come on. Anybody can make you happy. You can make yourself happy. Let's go!"
What a great driving song.
Yeah, the beat is very "driving." And when you're in the car and the windows are down and the beat is blasting, it's like, "It's great!"
