Listener Letters

Listen to this Story

Every week we receive lots of emails and phone calls with comments about our past show and suggestions for stories, but last week drew some particularly strong reactions. We'll hear from our listeners on the story we did about "curing" homosexuality, and about the second time in two weeks that we spoiled the ending of Anna Karenina.

Some Responses to Last Week's Show

I was only able to listen to the first part of this segment tonight, that with Richard Cohen.

I'm glad you presented both sides of the issue, something the media outlets today are not keen on doing. I did not hear the 'rebuttal' from Mr. Gonzales but I have one of my own.

From my own experience and that of my partner I can assure you Mr. Cohen is 'healing' not homosexuals but heterosexuals who have had some major life issues that needed to be dealt with. I seriously doubt Mr. Cohen or any of his colleagues have ever 'cured' a homosexual. Try asking for their records relating to treatment: they don't exist. And their record converting 'gay identified heterosexuals' is not good. We tend to listen to the professionals. In our opinion and that of the major medical and psychiatric organizations in America and the world there is no 'cure'.

A question comes to mind: I cannot understand why the media gives these people (Cohen, Exodus, Focus on the Family, etc.)a microphone when instead they should be handing a microphone to the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, the American Pediatric Association and countless others who have no vested interest in their research other than to heal mankind.

These are the people who understand the issue of homosexuality as best we possibly can at this time, and because America has valid questions about this issue, these are the people America needs to be hearing from.

The guy who tried to change and couldn't is too young. Tell him to try again when he is over 30 years old. Richard Cohen will get him straight. 20 mg Prozac also will help. (Safe as long as taken with good diet and less alcohol).

Last week I didn't listen to your program so I didn't hear the ending to "Anna Karenina."

This week I did listen. I heard the ending. There was no spoiler alert.

I just bought the book this fall thinking it was about time I read such an important novel. Now, a young man, who didn't give a "spoiler alert", gave away the ending in a complaint about someone giving away the ending without giving a spoiler alert. Is that fair???? I think not!

This is news! :-)

Thanks for the good show.
