Laurie Selik is currently grants manager for American Public Media's programs in Los Angeles, developing funding for our programs from government resources and private foundations. As Managing Producer, Laurie Selik helped launch Weekend America, managing the program's marketing, development, underwriting, and distribution plans. She also recruited new talent for American Public Media's new program development projects. She started her public radio career at Marketplace where she was manager of editorial relationships, developing new partnerships with The Economist, Audible.com, Yahoo and Reuters. Her past employers include Western Initiative Media, Danika Films, U.S. Congressman Henry Waxman and the Leo Burnett advertising agency in Chicago
Selik is from Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Los Angeles with her husband, Eric Roth, to earn her Master's degree in writing at the University of Southern California. In 2007 they published "Compelling Conversations," a textbook for English teachers and students.
