The Lightening of San Fransisco
Photo collector Red Powell (right) and friends in front of his shoe-shine parlor in 1970. Powell's business was located in San Francisco's Fillmore District, once an epicenter of San Francisco's African-American community. The walls of Powell's shop were lined with photos depicting the neighborhood's hey-day as an international jazz destination.
