Joe Wenderoth and Romana Norton's "Black is Beautiful" statue on the counter, among their family pictures.  This object is from the 1970s, and Romana sees it as a response to the racist and caricatured memorabilia of earlier times.  She says most of the black families she knew grewing up had a statue like this in their home.
