The East Branch of the Chagrin River is a state scenic river. The name Chagrin comes from the local Native American word "Sha-ga-rin", or "clear water." The name is appropriate, given the East Branch River's clear flowing nature. It is largely untouched by human activity in many places, although it runs through Cleveland suburbs.
