Jimmie Lee Jackson, Feb. 26, 1965, Marion, Ala.
Jackson was shot during a nighttime civil rights demonstration.  His killer was never charged.  In a 2005 interview with journalist John Fleming, former trooper James Bonard Fowler insisted he shot Jackson in self defense.  After that interview was published, the district attorney decided to look into the case.
