Fischoff

When Chicago-based musician Dave Fischoff first released his album, "The Crawl," last November, he wasn't thinking about how he would perform the music in public. He spent five years composing the music, writing the lyrics and recording everything -- a true solo project.

The music is rich, and there are details within each of the beats that an average listener might not have known. For example, he manipulates the sound of a seagull into a recurring beat in one song. But after a year of promoting the album, Fischoff realized he needed a way to bring the music to a live crowd. When he toured by himself something was missing. In the past few moths Fischoff found people to play with him on stage. This week, Fischoff embarks on a three-day tour with a backing band to support "The Crawl" for the first time. The music has been transformed from the album to the stage and Fischoff has had to let some of the intricacies of his music go. He's had to open himself up and let the music speak for itself at a live show. Fischoff shares his music and his story with Weekend America.
