When Russ and Michelle Cline travel to Wyoming this weekend, it will be their first trip to the state, even though they are about to move there. The Clines live in Detroit, where Russ Cline was recently laid off from Ford Motor Company. They are going to Wyoming because there's a labor shortage and the state has been recruiting people to move on in. Bill Radke talks with the Clines about their upcoming relocation.
Notes from Host Bill Radke:
A big part of American history is migration: people moving their families across the country for the sake of opportunity, adventure, or both. Today, moving is easier than ever. We have airplanes, cruise control, highway rest stops, and phones and computers for staying in touch with the people we left behind. And yet, leaving home is still hard. Russ Cline has a lot of friends who've been laid off but they aren't leaving Michigan. He is. You might admire the Cline's sense of optimism. You also might think about what home means to you, and what you'd be willing to risk if staying put didn't seem like an option anymore.
