Weekend America's Editorial and New Media Internships
Weekend America offers two internships to aspiring journalists and new media professionals. Each intern will learn how a weekly news program gets produced.
The editorial intern will primarily help program editors and producers with research, scheduling, and production of the weekly program. The new media intern will primarily help the online editor gather and process materials for the Web site, including images, copy, audio and video. She will also learn the ins and outs of an online new production cycle.
All interns will have the opportunity to learn:

The editorial process for a weekly magazine radio program.

Audio, image and video production techniques for broadcast and online.

Radio production of packaged reports and interviews.

The process of audio editing using digital editing/producing equipment.
Eligibility: You must be a current student in a graduate program, a current Junior or Senior in an undergraduate program or have graduated within 12 months from the start of the internship. Interested individuals should have a strong interest in public radio journalism and/or new media and possess excellent writing, research, communication, and organizational skills.
We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently. You should be interested in contemporary culture and be up-to-date on news and current events. Some previous editing/reporting/producing experience is preferred. Weekend America internships are part-time (20 hours/week) and last up to 6 months. Interns will be compensated on an hourly basis. Our studios are located in downtown Los Angeles. Applications will be accepted on an on-going basis. Relocation allowance is not available.
